Jay is a dedicated amateur musician who is currently focused on improving his guitar, electric bass, and drumset skills. He also serves on the national Board of Directors of Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring, expanding, and innovating music education in schools.
Jay's professional life covers over 30 years in the field of quantitative investing. Most recently, he was the Managing Director, Head of Research and Innovation at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Prior to that, Jay was a co-founder and managing member of Vyas Capital Management, LLC. Continuing back into time, his career journey included roles at Barclays Global Investors, Martingale Asset Management, and BARRA, Inc.
Jay earned his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Laura Dottori-Attanasio leads CIBC’s Risk Management function, which encompasses all areas of strategic, market, credit, operational, liquidity and reputational risk, as well as compliance and anti-money laundering.
Previously, Laura was Global Head of Corporate Credit Products where she had business unit responsibility for Corporate and Global Banking and ran all credit activities for CIBC's Capital Markets.
Laura has over 20 years of experience in the financial sector. Before joining CIBC, she was with one of Canada's chartered banks where she held a number of senior positions.
Laura is a member of the Board of Directors of Teck Resources, GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals), and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
She has been inducted into the WXN “Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada” Hall of Fame. Laura resides in Toronto with her husband and four children.
On June 27, 2018, Chris Murray was appointed the City Manager of Toronto.
Prior to this, Chris was the City Manager of Hamilton for almost 10 years.
He is by profession a registered city planner; by previous experience a
transportation and housing director; by necessity a relationship builder; and by
passion a public sector employee.
Chris is the current Chair of the Municipal Benchmarking Network of Canada.
Rick Rosemin is a Principal in the Curriculum and Instructional Services department at the York Region District school board. In his current role, he leads a team of consultants that plan and lead professional learning opportunities for teachers in the area of digital literacy and modern learning. And in doing so, this team strives to transform student achievement and well-being through the use of innovative practices and digital tools in order to promote equitable, authentic, relevant learning experiences driven by learner's voice.
Prior to his appointment at Curriculum and Instructional Services Rick has been an elementary school principal for 15 years serving various communities in York Region. His experience in education started in the Toronto District School Board as an elementary school teacher.

Chami Akmeemana is the CEO of Blockchain Learning Group and Convergence. He is a Blockchain and AI Specialist. He pursued a Ph.D. in Bioceramic Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London, until deciding to forgo an academic career in favor of Law Enforcement. In 2002, he joined London’s Metropolitan Police.
Chami has had 4 successful exits over the last decade and is passionate about the intersection of technology, business and social good. His experience includes serving as Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs at ConsenSys Inc; Fintech Advisor to the Ontario Securities Commission; Managing Director, Fintech and Blockchain at the Global Risk Institute; and Regulatory Advisor to the Republic of Liberland.
Chami is also the Chairman of the Blockchain Association Australia and an Advisory Board member of doc.ai.
Stuart Miller has been the Director of Education for the Halton District School Board since 2015 and has more than 35 years of experience in education.
He started his career as a Secondary Math and Science Teacher and moved through the education system holding roles as a Vice-Principal, Principal, Superintendent, Associate Director and his current role of Director of Education.
He holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Edinburgh and earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph.
Peter is a proud father of three kids who firmly believes in the mantra of family first. As a parent who has been actively engaged in his kid’s education as they have gone through GTA schools, colleges and universities, he has a very rich and positive perspective on the strong expectations that parents place on the education of their children.
He brings 25+ years of K-12 sector experience to his Information Technology portfolio, Peter has been described as both a practical minded and visionary leader. On the one hand, he has his feet firmly planted on the ground and is pragmatic and realistic in his approach; on the other hand, he also has a clear, exciting and meaningful vision for the future of TDSB IT Services.
Besides being an avid reader, he is a very fitness conscious individual who plays volleyball on a weekly basis, enjoys golf over the summer months, and passionately follows the game of cricket around the world.
Royan is a family man, educator, and, in the words of his own children, “very…weird”. When he isn’t leading system level initiatives that aim to bring more innovation and equity to York region classrooms and schools, you can find Royan coaching his kids in various sports, teaching music, or producing house and hip hop beats in his home studio.
As a classroom teacher, Royan was known for pushing the envelope with innovative teaching practices and technology. You can find his talks, workshops, and media appearances which reflect this work with a simple Google search of his name. Royan is also known for his TED Talk about his experiences as a racialized sibling of his Autistic brother. In his current role as Curriculum Coordinator, Royan has led teams and initiatives that span many different but intersecting areas in education which include: New Teacher Professional Development; Math Education; Modern Learning, Assessment and Evaluation; Equity and Inclusion; Anti-Racism; and Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy (CRRP).
He is very excited to be speaking on a panel at The Future of Learning, as few topics interest him more than this. Royan is constantly reading books, sifting through his online feeds, listening to podcasts, and engaging in dialogue with his brilliant network of fellow educational leaders about what new challenges and possibilities are emerging as time goes by. There has never been a time in education when collaborative leadership has been more important than now.

Rahim currently teaches Senior Business and Cooperative Education courses at John Polanyi Collegiate Institute, and most definitely enjoys providing his students with real life experiences, both within and exterior to the classroom, community, and country. Rahim has been an educator within the TDSB and various other countries for almost 15 years now and is a 2016 - 2017 recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence.
Exterior to his local classroom, Rahim has created partnerships with various community based organizations in which he has had the blessed opportunity to lead efforts in implementing an after school cooking program for students and in building an urban farm which harvests are then donated to the local community. One of his largest achievements was raising over $100, 000 with a team of dedicated teachers, students, and donors to build an elementary school in Nicaragua in 2013. In 2014 and 2015, this team also won National Social Entrepreneurship Competitions held at Ryerson University and represented Canada at the International competitions in Russia and South Korea. In the spring of 2019, the team volunteered to build a school in the Amazon region of Ecuador.
Currently, he continues to further links to the Integrative Thinking Initiative based out of University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management where his work has allowed his students solve real challenges and consult to organizations such as: Metrolinx, Toronto Region Conservation Authority, Baycrest Health Sciences, The North York Harvest Food Bank and many others. While working with the PACT Urban Peace Program for almost a decade, he has assisted in bringing experiential specialized programs such as Urban Farming and the Culinary Arts to students from Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods and is currently working with the organization’s Co-Founder to develop an equitable and social plan to rebuild positive holistic community infrastructure.
Rahim holds a Masters Of Education specializing in Applied Psychology and Human Development at OISE (University of Toronto), has completed a Bachelors of Education (B. Ed) from OISE (University of Toronto) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Rahim has been blessed with the opportunity to visit more than 25 different countries. Whether it has been volunteering in the refugee camps of Kenya, or teaching within a college in Oman, or climbing Mount Fuji in Japan, his goal is be able to experience the endless beauty this world has to offer.
Rahim enjoys meeting new people, personalities, possibilities; and of course tasting the endless variety of culinary arts that this planet has to offer. Family and philanthropy are embodied in all aspects of his life and aspires to improve this world one conversation at a time.
Dr. Ozgur Turetken is professor and associate dean for research at the
Ted Rogers School of Management. As associate dean for research, his mission is the advancement of a relevant and rigorous management research agenda at TRSM. An important subset of research at TRSM is IT and IT management
research. Ozgur worked on an IT management research agenda as Director of the School of IT Management, where he finished his
five year term in July 2019.
In his role as the school director he also oversaw the modification and
expansion of the business IT curriculum in accordance with industry trends. Dr. Turetken’s main scholarly interests are in applied (text) analytics especially in the context of individual decision making. His research in this area has been funded by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada among other agencies, and has been published in numerous international journals.
Ozgur is one of the former chairs of Association for Information Systems Special Interest Group on Decision Support and Analytics (AIS SIGDSA) for which he is now an elected advisory board member. He also serves in the HCI and analytics research communities as an editor and track chair.
Prof Turetken holds a PhD in Management Science and Information Systems from Oklahoma State University, a BSc. in Electrical and Electronics engineering as well as an MBA from METU (Ankara, Turkey).

Helen Pereira-Raso has dedicated her career to inspiring students to be creative,
engaged and curious learners who are fully prepared for life. In her role as Head of School at Holy Trinity School (HTS) in Richmond Hill, north of Toronto, Helen brings a forward-thinking, progressive approach to education that is the foundation for HTS’s reputation as leaders in learning.
Helen’s career as an educational leader has always focused on what matters most – developing a school culture in which all learners, adult and young alike, are able to explore, create and learn in meaningful ways. She is committed to professional learning as essential in the journey of educators and has led workshops both in Canada and the United States.
Helen has a deep understanding of both elementary and secondary education, having taught grades 7-12 in both the public and independent school systems. In these schools, she has held various leadership roles that allowed her to learn and grow as a reflective practitioner.
Her leadership and innovative approaches, combined with her passion and commitment to developing learning environments that inspire all learners, is what drives her life’s work.
Leading a team of dynamic professionals, Kelly O’Neill supports program lifecycle management at Humber College Institute of Advanced Learning and Technology. This involves working closely with multiple constituents to engage in innovative and responsive program development, curriculum change processes, and continuous improvement through program reviews and renewal.
Kelly has a wealth of experience in program planning, development and quality assurance. Her career in higher education spans over 15 years and includes roles in both the college and university sectors in Ontario and Alberta and accreditation work worldwide.
Over the span of her career Kelly has also presented at numerous academic and research conferences, and has been involved with a number of local and provincial academic associations, committees and working groups. Prior to working in the postsecondary sector, Kelly worked with a health charity and was the first interactive account coordinator at TMP Worldwide Canada, subsequent to its acquisition of monster.ca. Her current research focuses the intersection of student engagement and quality assurance in higher education, and the role of blended professionals in the academy.
Kelly holds a Doctor of Education from the University of Calgary, a Masters of Education from Athabasca University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. Most recently, she successfully completed the Max Bell Foundation’s Public Policy Training Institute program.
Garth Nichols is the Vice Principal of Student Engagement & Experiential Development at Havergal College, located in Toronto, Ontario. Garth has made the transition from teaching in the high school classroom to focus on the training and development of teachers, and the reexamination of the systems and structures of education because of his passion for the art and science of teaching and his curiosity for the future. Graduating from his Masters in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from OISE/UT he has continued to deepen his exploration and impact on how teachers teach and how students learn in the 21st Century. He is the Co-Founder and Lead Facilitator of Cohort 21, and the CAIS Project 2051 and CAIS Strategic Change Accelerator. Garth is experienced in academic programming, professional development, school-wide innovation, and technology integration.
At Havergal College, Garth oversees experiential learning program development, integration of technology and curriculum design, and student leadership. He brings a passion for exploring innovation, student engagement and the positioning of teachers in the educational landscape to understand how these can work together to improve student learning. As a Google Certified Educator, Garth also has a keen interest for integrating different technologies into everyday teacher practice to improve the learning environment at Bayview Glen, and to deliver on the school’s mission.
In 2012, Garth co-founded Cohort 21, a year-long, job embedded PD experience for teachers in the CIS Ontario community. It combines the best of face-to-face learning with digital technology tools to foster community and sharing among teachers to challenge and support them as they shift towards, what is referred to generally as, 21st Century teaching and learning. In its eighth year, Cohort 21 continues to be a hub of cutting edge pedagogical thinking, discussions and action. In 2015, Garth is one of the lead facilitators of CAIS (Canadian Independent Schools’ governing body) Project 2051 which has at is core the planning and preparation of Independent Schools to be leaders for the future of education.
Most recently, Garth is the co-founder and lead facilitator of CAIS Strategic Change Accelerator which launched in BC last year. This is a school team approach, a year-long, blended learning experience to help make innovation a routine in schools.
